HI RISE RACER NEWS 2012
ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE to the 2011 Most Hi Rise Points Winners, Lindsey Crookshanks and Dennis Kutash, and the Gretchko Award Winner, Geri Weis.
CMSC RULE CHANGES New 2012 rulebooks are being printed and will be available on line at the CMSC website. The major chance involves slalom races. Following FIS and World Cup formats, CMSC Slalom Races will be single pole courses except for flushes, which will still be defined by double poles.
To correctly complete a single pole gate, also called the “inside” or “turning” pole, you must follow the natural line of the course. This means you must turn above the pole. If you miss, slide by, ski on the wrong side of a single pole gate, you can no longer just back up to the pole. You must climb back up along the natural line of the course to a point above the pole, and then continue on course. The rule for a double pole gate remains the same - both ski boots must cross the imaginary line between the two poles.
